I imagine the layers of the earth extending from its iron core

through the atmosphere into space.

I think of the abundance of life in the narrow green band at the surface and how the slow crawl of geologic time compares to the blink of a human life. I try to imply the mass of the earth and the far reach of the universe.

The vertical orientation of many of my pieces confounds expectations for landscapes; they are speculative cross-sections, their scales
weirdly out of whack, offering multiple perspectives at once.
